When capturing domestic animals, a photographer develops a personal relationship with their subjects. Making eye contact with the animal allows for the moment to be captured in a way that the viewers can read as personal. When eye contact is not made, then the landscape lends itself to aid in the narrative.

Photos can enhance cultural interest and also can be seen as a fictional narrative, it can be understood as a re-enactment (McClean, 2015)
